• Your porcelain jewelry can be cleaned with a soft cloth, mild soap and cool water. Spot clean the hand dyed cotton cord with mild laundry detergent and cold water and lay flat to dry. If your cord necklace gets a kink in it from being folded up for too long, just get it a little bit damp, give it a gentle stretch, and then lay it flat to dry.

  • Though ceramic jewelry is sturdy for everyday wear, our bigger necklaces and earrings can break if dropped on a hard surface, or crushed in a purse, or stepped on. Trust us, we've done it all! If you’re worried about breakage, smaller studs like our ceramic flower studs are our sturdiest designs, and having dropped literally hundreds of them at this point, we can say with confidence that they are very hard to break!

  • We do! Check our Classes/Events page to see what’s coming up next! We are in an airy, welcoming multidisciplinary studio, and offer everything from oil painting classes to stud earring classes to hand building ceramic mugs with the ceramic extraordinaire Lauren Huie! Our classes are fun and beginner friendly, and if you’re local to Portland we’d love to see you at one!

  • This is always a tricky one for me to answer! The word is used in so many different ways these days, it's hard to pin down just what makes a fashion brand sustainable. Here is what I can say about Barrow PDX: We recycle all of our clay, so there’s minimal ceramic waste other than the small amount that goes down the drain and is then captured in our clay trap so it doesn’t reach the waterways. We use very limited plastic in our packaging (I think its just the occasional plastic tape when I run out of the cello tape) and we reuse packing materials when possible. We don’t print out packing slips for our retail orders and just send them digitally. And whenever possible, we don’t throw away finished ceramics and jewelry! They usually go to our local craft donation store, to kids classrooms, or into free boxes at our studio. If you’re a teacher who would like some free beads and bits, feel free to reach out, we just might have some!

  • A lot of our jewelry is made to order (this helps us avoid waste!) so please allow 7-10 business days for shipping (but usually we are faster). If you live in the US, shipping is free. We do ship outside the US for a shipping fee depending on location.

  • Our studio is located in NE Portland and open to appointments, just email us to set something up!

  • We love custom requests, if you see a color and want to customize something that's not currently available, contact us and we can let you know if it can be done! We’ve made custom earrings for sisters, bridesmaid jewelry gifts, and even a set of matching necklaces for a book launch party!

Did you know that porcelain is the traditional 18th wedding anniversary gift? We love being part of your special occasions, its the best!
